About the Pattern:
This beginner-friendly pattern is for an 8 x 8 in. knit square using a combination of the moss stitch and stockinette stitch to give a fun play on textures.
Yarn:
- Caron Simply Soft Tweeds in Taupe – 70 yards Size 4 Weight (97% acrylics 3% viscose; 5 oz/141 g; 250 yds/228 m)

Gauge:
- Gauge is 12 st. by 17 rows for a 4 x 4 in. square in stockinette
Finished Size:
- The finished size is 8 by 8 in.

Cast on 24 sts on your knitting needles.
Row 1 (RS): *K, p, rep * across
Row 2: *P, k rep * across
Rows 3 and 4: Repeat rows 1 and 2
Row 5: K across
Row 6: P across
Rows 7 to 12: Rep rows 5 and 6
Row 13 to 16: Rep rows 1 and 2
Rows 17 to 22: Repeat rows 5 and 6
Row 23 to 26: Repeat rows 1 and 2
Rows 27 to 32: Repeat rows 5 and 6
Row 33 to 36: Repeat rows 1 and 2
Bind off and weave in all loose ends. Steam block to the 8 x 8 in. dimensions.
