Design Inspiration behind this FREE Colorblock Crochet Wrap Pattern

I’m sure many of you have watched Pocahontas growing up and although we probably didn’t truly grasp the important message behind the movie when we were younger, it was a favorite for many of us. My absolute favorite song from the movie was of course Colors of the Wind from the picturization to the beautiful lyrics, everything was beautiful. When I signed up for this blog event, I had no idea I would end up here. I knew I wanted to design a wearable accessory but that was pretty much it.

Enter Wander Palette Packs! These palettes are all SO gorgeous from the shine to the softness and come in so many amazing color combinations. Of course, my favorite was the Autumn Palette Pack, I am a sucker for jewel and warm tones and anything FALL! So this palette was PERFECT. As my design ideas evolved, I wanted to somehow showcase a spiral of colors and that led me to the Colors of the Wind song and I drew inspiration from the swirling of colors throughout the song to bring you this gorgeous FREE Tunisian color block crochet wrap pattern. I am beyond thrilled with how this Tunisian crochet wrap pattern turned out! I hope you love making it as much as I did!

Since my design is heavily inspired by a song that speaks to the struggles of the Native American people, I would like to urge you all to read the following articles and donate to the charities mentioned if you can to support their cause.

Here I’ve made some fun mini wall hangings that are perfect for beginner Tunisian crocheters because you can practice all the basic stitches as you learn how to crochet a small rectangle using new Tunisian crochet skills!

This post may contain Affiliate links for which I may get a small commission at no extra cost to you.

I haven’t really dived into crochet cable patterns yet and this is the first time I am sharing one and I am so excited! Have you tried the Tunisian crochet cable stitch? It is so fun to do and it creates a beautiful texture.

If you are here in search for crochet cable squares, I have just the pattern for you! This pattern is for a free Tunisian crochet cable blanket square

My friend Arunima of the @knitterknotter is hosting an amazing Tunisian crochet Blaket CAL 2021 that runs for the entire year and includes a new Tunisian crochet square pattern every 2 weeks!

Give this free Tunisian crochet cable square pattern a try! A mix of the honeycomb and cable crochet stitches creates a beautiful texture!

I love the pop of texture this braided cable crochet stitch gives against the purl stitches. The alternating panels of Tunisian knit and purl stitches really create a beautiful design. The panel of honeycomb in the middle just adds a nice touch! I had to include the Tunisian honeycomb stitch because it’s one of my favorites Tunisian crochet stitches!

If you’re looking for a fun crochet cable granny square, this is a fun Tunisian crochet version!

I initially designed this square in a 12 x 12 in. size but have now added instructions for a 8 x 8 in. square for an upcoming charity blog event! Find both instructions below, the PDFs are sold separately for each size.

This is such a cute cinched ear warmer crochet pattern and so easy to make! The best part is that the Lookin’ Swell Ear Warmer is a one-skein project and works up super fast. You can even make a matching one for your little ones as well. This pattern uses the Tunisian knit stitch which is one of the coolest Tunisian crochet stitches because it looks exactly like the knit stitch seen in knitting. I’ve included a link to a Tunisian knit stitch tutorial in the pattern that you can check out below.

I was gifted this beautiful yarn from We Crochet. I had never worked with this bulky 100% Pima cotton yarn. It is so soft and I love that it goes from thin to thick creating a beautiful texture! You can grab some Billow yarn here or by clicking the picture below!

Tunisian Crochet Earwarmer Pattern Notes:

This pattern is for a knit-like beginner-friendly Tunisian crochet ear warmer in toddler, child, and adult sizes that can be completed in 1 hour. It’s the perfect ear warmer to practice the basic Tunisian knit stitch! The best part is that it’s a one-skein project and works up super fast so it’s great for market prep and gift making! You can make a matching one for your little one as well. Below you will find the written instructions for the child size. You can upgrade to the ad-free PDF for the toddler and adult sizes.

  • Pattern rows are Forward pass instructions.
  • The following instructions are implied:
    • The loop already on the hook at the beginning of the row counts as the first st.
    • Always Tunisian simple stitch in the last st of the row, being sure to work under both loops of the st.

Pattern Notes continued…

  • Return Pass: Follow the foundation row and each row with the Return Pass in the same color unless a color change is needed.
    • Return Pass Instructions: Ch 1, *yarn over, pull through two loops; repeat from * until 1 loop remains on the hook.
  • Note: Measure your gauge swatch across unstretched and stretched. Note the two numbers and subtract to find the difference. This is how much you will need to subtract from the head circumference measurement to determine total length.
    • Example:
      • The Gauge swatch stretched is 5 in. and unstretched it is 4 in. 5 -4 = 1 in. You will need to subtract 1 in. from the head circumference measurement.
      • 21 in. head circumference – 1 in. = 20 in. This means you will need to work the piece to a total length of 20 in. Substitute this number for X in the pattern below.
      • Note: Depending on the stretchiness of yarn and head size of the toddler/child, you may want to decrease the width by 1 or 2 stitches.

There are a total of 22 crochet along patterns for you to enjoy as part of this event. If you’re looking for some fun crochet along afghan patterns, this is the event for you! This is the perfect crochet along afghan to make for the holidays. Although it isn’t a Tunisian crochet blanket, there are quite a few Tunisian crochet squares for you to enjoy!

My Tunisian crochet square pattern is for a cookie because that’s what comes to mind when I think of the holidays. I don’t celebrate any of the major holidays around this time of year but I do love two things that are a major part of this season: baking and enjoying everyone’s decorations. I love baking yummy treats, who doesn’t? I initially started off with a sugar cookie with icing as the idea but it evolved into this chocolate cookie and I am so happy with the way it turned out and my hubby found the perfect Pepperidge Farms Peppermint Thins to go with the square! If you were looking for the perfect crochet cookie squares, you’ve found them. I think the Tunisian Cookie Squares would look so cute even as a banner as part of your holiday decor.

About the Inspiration for this Crochet Animal Scarf Pattern:

My inspiration comes from winter-themed children’s clothes which usually have a polar bear on them. The moment I saw the Caron Latte Cake and Lion Brand Go For Faux yarn together in these colors, I knew they would pair perfectly for a winter crochet child scarf pattern! I tried a few different safety eyes and a nose that just didn’t look right so then I decided embroidery was the way to go! I’m very happy with the way this Tunisian crochet pattern turned out. The Lattice Stitch is becoming one of my favorite Tunisian crochet stitches (after Honeycomb of course!)
