Inspiration

A couple of months ago, I was invited to participate in a fun challenge by Hobbii Yarn, the Japandi Challenge and I had to hop on! The challenge was based on a Japanese x Scandinavian theme – and we were invited to explore and interpret these themes through our pattern designing skills.

I chose to create a Tunisian crochet scarf using Hobbii Pearly Haze (the softest most beautiful yarn I have ever used) to represent the Japandi theme. I decided on these beautiful soft colors that worked so well together. I chose Turkish Blue, Teal, and Cream. Initially, I did a poll to ask whether you all wanted stripes or colorblock sections for the color work and a lot of people said stripes but the designer in my couldn’t let go of the idea of color blocks so I did a mix of both. The scarf has a lot of character and can be worn in many different ways! Of course I had to finish off with some fringe to complete the look!

A huge thank you to Hobbi Yarn for providing the yarn for this pattern!

Ps. If you’re on my mailing list, be sure to check your email for a special discount!

About Pattern

This pattern is inspired by the Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetic. This scarf will be a simple and relaxing design created with the Tunisian knit stitch and some basic colorwork. Fringe will be added to finish off the design. Tunisian crochet is making a comeback and this pattern will be great for beginners and advanced crocheters alike for getting familiar with the basic Tunisian crochet stitches and minimalist colorwork design. It will be the perfect addition to any winter wardrobe! This pattern is worked flat in one piece, bottom-up. The techniques used in this pattern include Tunisian crochet knit stitch and changing colors in Tunisian crochet. This pattern can be completed by an advanced-beginner. The pattern includes video tutorials for the techniques used. The pattern is divided into 4 sections and each section has an accompanying overview picture and color chart provided.

Tunisian Crochet Patterns Ravelry – The Story Behind The Design

If you're looking for a crochet pillow pattern easy level, you're in the right place! This Tunisian Luxe Pillow is great for any room and works up quick!

There’s a really funny story behind how this chunky crochet pillow cover design came about! I was visiting my cousin in Oklahoma in Fall of last year. It was around the time my cousin (her brother) and his wife had their baby shower. We went out for some last-minute errands the day before the baby shower. Of course, we had to make a stop at Michael’s because I needed a fur pom to complete my nephew’s bonnet (a blue version of my Silver Lining Bonnet)!

In my defense, my cousin also needed some things for the baby shower! So there we were at Michael’s and I was taking my sweet time browsing the aisles. She spotted this Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles yarn. She kept squishing it and saying “it’s just SO soft.” I couldn’t agree more, it really was so soft and snuggly!

So we picked it up and I told her I’ll make something for her. After the baby shower, she was planning on moving to Houston from Oklahoma for work. She had never lived anywhere other than Oklahoma so it was a big change for her! I wanted to give her something that she could decorate her new place with and feel at home.

Story Continued

A little bit of background: my cousin was my first frenemy sis (cuz let’s face it sister’s fight often). She’s the first person I knew when I came to America from overseas. She’s also the one who taught me the American ways (i.e., snacking while binging on Nick Jr. shows after school). My cousin is also the one who pushed me to start this little business of mine. So needless to say she has a very special place in my heart (Love you cuzzo!). So this design means a lot to me and I hope it does to her too!

While she was packing at 2 AM a couple of days before her move, I was sitting there working this pillow up. When I was done I showed her both sides and she chose the wrong side to be displayed. I’m glad she did, it’s just so chunky and gives off serious cozy vibes! It’s the perfect crochet pillow pattern with vintage vibes.

Techniques:
Foundation Row and Tunisian Simple Stitch
How to complete Tunisian Crochet Bind Off
Surface Bobble Stitch
How to seam/join using sl st

Pattern rows are Forward pass instructions.

The following instructions are implied:
The loop already on the hook at the beginning of the row counts as the first st.
Always TSS in the last st of the row, being sure to work under both loops of the st.

Return Pass: Follow the foundation row and each row with the Return Pass in the same color.
Return Pass Instructions: Ch 1, *yarn over, pull through two loops; repeat from * until 1 loop remains on the hook.

Abbreviations:

Sl st: Slip stitch
Ch: Chain
Tss: Tunisian simple stitch
Bo: Bobble stitch
Sc: Single crochet
RetP: Return Pass

Pattern Instructions:

Ch 7 with Caron Simply Soft yarn.

Row 1 (Foundation Row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain. Complete normal RetP
Row 2: Tss across, normal RetP
Continue Row 2 until the piece measures 8 in. and bind off

Repeat the above instructions 4 more times for a total of 5 panels.

Assembly:
Take two panels and hold them together with right sides facing out and sc panels together using Vel-luxe yarn. Continue joining in this way until all 5 panels are joined together.

Sc around the square with Vel-Luxe yarn – (sc, ch1, sc) into the corners.

Refer to this video tutorial for how to complete the surface bobble stitch.

First and Fifth Panel: Holding Jeans yarn and Metallic crochet thread together. Make bobbles lengthwise. Count three rows up from the foundation row and starting here, make bo into the third st from the right. Skip 1 row and make bo into next row and continue making bo in this pattern until 2 rows remain. Leave a 6 in. tail and cut yarn.

Second and Fourth Panel: Using only the metallic crochet thread, count 2 rows up and make bo in the same pattern as above but stop when there are 3 rows remaining. Leave a 6 in. tail and cut yarn.

Third Panel: Using only the Jeans yarn follow the same pattern as the first panel

Using the Vel-Luxe yarn, sc around the square completing (sc, ch1, sc) into each corner. Leave a 6 in. tail and cut yarn.

Finishing Options:
Weave in all ends and you’re done!

If you want you can complete a second square using the Caron Simply Soft yarn or equivalent size 4 worsted weight yarn as follows:

Ch 25 and complete sc rows till piece measures 8 in. and join squares with a sl st or sc join (with right sides facing out and all ends on the wrong sides) making sure to do (sc, ch1, sc) into corners.

Are you looking for an easy crochet football pattern? You’re in the right place! This Tunisian crochet football pattern works up super quick and uses only one-skein of Lily Sugar N Cream in warm brown and some scrap yarn in white! The Tunisian crochet football-themed pattern was originally inspired by my nephew who will be arriving this December! My cousin and his wife are big-time College Football fans, so much so that their baby is officially a Boomer Cougar (a product of Oklahoma Sooners and Houston Cougars)! This pattern is for a Tunisian crochet football pattern that can be made as an applique, face or body scrubby, or as a stuffie or toy! You will work flat, embroider some eyes and a smile on the front, and then sew pieces together. You can add some polyfil before closing all the way up to make it into a stuffie. I’ve also added a band at the back so you or your little one can hold onto the ball more securely! Video tutorials are included for all stitches.

Crochet Baby Romper Pattern- Tunisian Tinsel Romper

This Tunisian crochet baby romper pattern will take you back in time to relive the 90s with the velvet and the bell bottom-like pant legs. The pocket adds a vintage touch with a hint of gold! Last year I sat down and created this piece with the intention of releasing the pattern in time for the holidays. However, I did not feel comfortable and confident enough with grading the different sizes and actually doing a test at that time.

It’s here! A crochet baby romper that I designed with Tunisian crochet beginner and advanced crocheters in mind!

When I started working on this design, I didn’t know if it would end up fitting an actual baby/kid. There is a serious lack of consistent sizing information around knit and crochet baby clothing, especially when it comes to pant sizes, so I did some digging to get all the measurements I needed! I persisted though because I had promised myself that I will release this crochet baby romper suit pattern before the year ends. A special shout out to my designer friend who also tested this pattern for me for helping out with sizing information thanks Bonnie from Woodland Stitchcraft!
