TUNISIAN CROCHET BLANKET PATTERN INSPIRATION:
The sky and clouds theme is a common one we see in nursery room decor and in the past I have designed using this surface bobble stitch technique and it turned out very cute so I thought I would attempt it with this beautiful and super soft Bernat Forever Fleece. What makes this an even more special design is that my little guy actually helped me pick these colors out at a recent trip to JoAnns!

Tunisian Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern Instructions:
Ch 94 with Col A. (Note: If you would like to modify to make a lovey, just chain 35 instead and work the pattern as below for 14 in., the finished size of the lovey will be approximately 13 x 14 in. see corresponding color chart below for bobble placement)
Row 1 (Foundation Row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain. Complete normal RetP.
Row 2: Tss across, normal RetP.
Continue Row 2 until the piece measures 34 in. from the foundation row and bind off.
SURFACE BOBBLE CLOUDS INSTRUCTIONS:
With a 10.0 mm hook and Col B, follow the color chart below for placement of bobbles. See the pattern notes section for how to complete the surface bobble cloud and refer to the video tutorial.
Modified color chart for bobble placement on Lovey:
Refer to the following video tutorial for how to complete the surface bobble stitch clouds:
Make bobbles horizontally. Count four rows up from the foundation row and count 10 stitches to the left, starting here, make Sbo into the tenth st from the left. Skip next st, turn the blanket sideways to make it easier to work the bobbles. Make Sbo and continue making Sbo in this pattern for two more Sbo. You should have a total of 4 Sbo in this row.
Now count one stitch up and one stitch to the right, make Sbo, continue the pattern as above until you have a total of 3 Sbo in this row. The 3 Sbo in this row should offset the Sbo in the row below to form the cloud shape. Leave a 6 in. tail and cut yarn.
Continue this pattern according to the placement of the Sbo in the color chart.
Refer to this video tutorial for how to complete the border:
With Col B, using the 10.0 mm hook, and right side of the blanket facing you, sc around, completing sc, ch1, sc into each corner. Sl st to join into the first st. Leave a 6 in. tail and cut yarn.
Using Col C, with a 6.0 mm hook, with the right side of the blanket facing you, join into the corner of the long edge.
Row 1 (Foundation row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain, work last stitch into the BLO of sc stitch in the row above. Complete RetP B.
Row 2: Tss, tps* repeat * and work last st into the BLO of sc stitch above, work RetP B.
Repeat Row 2 until you reach the corner. When you get to the corner, do not bind off.
Border Corner Instructions:
Row 1 (Foundation row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain across, work the last stitch into the first stitch of the last row of the long edge. Complete RetP B.
Rows 2 to 4: Tss, tps* rep * across. Work the last st into the next stitch of the last row of the long edge border.
Row 5: Tss, tps* rep * across. Work the last st into the BLO of sc stitch in the next row.
Repeat row 5 until you reach the next corner of the blanket. Refer to the video tutorial above and photo tutorial below.
