Tunisian crochet wrap Design Inspiration

Back in 2021, I was approached by one of my friends, Brittany from KnotBadBritt for an amazing collaboration opportunity to showcase BIPOC designers as part of a beautiful calendar! Check it out HERE.

The 2023 Makers of Color Collective Calendar features over a dozen crochet and knit accessory designs from BIPOC crochet and knit designers. Not only do you receive a beautiful calendar to keep you inspired year round but you also receive the digital download of each of the patterns included. Digital Downloads of patterns were released January 1, 2023. There are a total of 17 patterns in this calendar ranging from accessories to garments!

I am so thrilled to see my design among some of the best knitting and crochet designers!

I knew I wanted to design a wearable item for this collaboration and at the time I had just learned this modified mesh stitch and was obsessed with it! I love how mindless it is once you get into a rhythm and it makes for the perfect Spring/Summer crochet!

About the Gimme Some Mesh Wrap

This wearable pattern is a lacy and breezy Tunisian crochet mesh wrap perfect for transitioning from winter to spring and summer! This is an intermediate Tunisian crochet lace wrap available in 4 sizes, written as: XS/S (M/L, XL/2X, 3X/4X).

The wrap is worked flat in a modified Tunisian Mesh Stitch as a big rectangle. Please refer to
this video for the Tunisian mesh stitch tutorial:

I added tassels/fringe along the edges because I am all about the tassels and fringe. These are optional and you can opt to leave them out!

This crochet wrap also makes for the perfect crochet beach cover up for those warm days that are fast approaching!

Yarn:

WeCrochet Cotlin, DK / Weight 3 Light (70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen, 123 yards / 113 meters, 100 grams / 3.5 ounces): in the color Swan, 703 (738, 783, 823) yards / 643 (675, 716, 753) meters

Hook:

Radiant Wood Interchangeable US K-10.5 / 6.5 mm Tunisian crochet hook with 24” / 60 cm cable and stopper, grab the set here or check out a review here

Notions:

Gauge
13 stitches and 6 rows = 4” / 10 cm over stitch pattern, unblocked

This is a Tunisian crochet pattern made with Lion Brand Yarn Coboo in Magenta and Lily Sugar N’ Cream in White to give a nice contrast. Both are cotton yarns perfect for spring! For this design, you need a 6.0 mm Tunisian crochet hook with a 12 in. cord. The finished size of the scarf is 5 in. wide by 70 in. in length with tassels – the pattern can easily be adjusted for the desired length by completing extra rows for the non-colorwork portion. This is a perfect lightweight crochet scarf pattern for throwing around your neck on those cool breezy evenings.

Materials:
Yarn: Lion Brand Yarn Coboo in Magenta and Lily Sugar N Cream in White
Hooks: 5 mm Tunisian Crochet Hook (get my favorite set here)
Notions: Large Tassel Maker, Yarn Needle, Scissors, and Measuring Tape
