Today’s free pattern for the Easy TC Blog Hop is the Bobblelicious Ear Warmer pattern. This pattern is for an easy textured chunky Tunisian crochet ear warmer made with 100% wool! I used Sugarbush Yarns Chill in Scarlet for the base and We Are Knitters The Petite Wool in Millenial Pink for the bobbles. The best part is that it is worked flat and can be made with a regular hook – I used a Clover Amour N/P 10 mm crochet hook. It’s the perfect beginner-friendly project to get started with Tunisian crochet! A huge thanks to my testers Toni @tonimaycrochet, Amy @anothermumfightsthedust, and Elisa @stringsancuddles!

You can also grab the matching cowl, the Tunisian Bobblelicious Cowl for half off in my Ravelry shop now through Monday night! No coupon code needed. All my patterns are also 25% off through the weekend in honor of reaching a milestone of 25 published patterns! Again no coupon code needed!

  • Pattern rows are Forward pass instructions.
  • The following instructions are implied:
    • The loop already on the hook at the beginning of the row counts as the first st.
    • Always TSS in the last st of the row, being sure to work under both loops of the st.
  • Return Pass: Follow the foundation row and each row with the Return Pass in the same color.
    • Return Pass Instructions: Ch 1, *yarn over, pull through two loops; repeat from * until 1 loop remains on the hook.

Abbreviations:

Sl st: Slip stitch

Ch: Chain

Tss: Tunisian simple stitch

Bo: Surface Bobble Stitch

RetP: Return Pass -Explained above.

Pattern Instructions:

Ch 7 with Color A

Row 1 (Foundation Row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain. Complete normal RetP. (7 sts)

Row 2 to 36: TSS across (7 sts). (or continue Tss across for the length needed to match your head circumference) For reference, my head circumference is 21.5 inches: and I continued the Tss rows for 20 inches. Leaving a long tail,, cut yarn (approximately 8 to 10 inches). This tail will be used later for seaming up the ear warmer.

Starting at one end of the ear warmer, count 2 rows up and count to the 4th stitch (this will be the center stitch). With Color B Make Bo in this st. Moving vertically, skip 1 st, sl st into next st and make Bo in the same st. Refer to this video for how to make a surface bobble st. Continue making bobbles until there is only 1 st remaining. Leaving a 6 in. tail, cut yarn. Weave in end on the backside of ear warmer. With the wrong side facing you, join the ends of the ear warmer together with whip st or using your preferred method of seaming using the tail left at the beginning. Turn right side out and enjoy your finished make!
