Are you all about that scrunchie life? I am loving that this trend is coming back because as a kid I used to love scrunchies and would steal my mom’s scrunchies all the time. Now I can make my own! I have put together a full crochet scrunchie beginner video tutorial on my YouTube channel. All you need is some worsted weight size 4 yarn, an elastic hair tie, a crochet hook and about 7 minutes!

I love that scrunchies are so versatile. You can wear them as a bracelet or wear them in your hair for different looks! For this crochet scrunchie pattern, I used the treble crochet stitch. This is a super fun stitch that adds nice length and gives a nice frilly effect. This crochet scrunchie is perfect to add to your store inventory or for markets! These can also be made with velvet yarn to give a luxurious effect. I have a different version of velvet scrunchies available in my Etsy shop for purchase (ship to US and Canada only).

Pattern:

Make a slip knot with the yarn around the elastic band leaving a 6 in. tail. Ch 3 and treble crochet around the elastic hair tie until there are enough treble crochet stitches to fill the band to your liking. Sl st into the first st and leaving a 6 in. tail, cut yarn. Weave in ends. Optional: Add a small amount of glue to the sl st join spot to secure the hair tie and let dry. I personally have not added glue but I have heard that this keeps the scrunchie secure.
