So today, I’m sharing this easy crochet fur rug pattern and sharing how to Tunisian crochet a rectangle rug. It is just Tunisian simple stitch and rows and rows of fur! The yarn was gifted to me by We Crochet Official. I love this Fable Fur yarn, it is such a dream to work with. It is super soft and once you get the hang of it, you can create beautiful things!

I know fur yarn can be intimidating to crochet with so I have a blog post + video tutorial taking you through how to Tunisian crochet with fur yarn, you can find it here. Look over it and get familiar and then come back and make this easy crochet rug!
Materials:
Yarn: Knit Picks Fable Fur Yarn in Eisbar – 3 skeins (approximately 213 yards) (Size 6 Super Bulky weight; 100g/ 71 yds; 100% polyester).
Alternatively, you can also use Lion Brand Go Faux Fur but I’m not sure the final measurements will be the same since the go faux fur is a little thicker than the fable fur yarn. You may need more yardage to complete the project.
Hook: US 13 9.0 mm Tunisian crochet hook with 24 in. cord and stopper, grab my favorite Denise Interchangeables set here.
Gauge:
6 sts x 7 rows for 4 x 4 in. square in Tunisian simple stitch
Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain
Tss – Tunisian simple stitch
St(s) – Stitch(es)
RetP – Return pass (explained below)
Notions:
Finished Measurement: 17.5 in. x 30 in.

Pattern Notes:
This pattern is for a beginner-friendly Tunisian crochet fur rug to add that special touch to your photos or to add a cozy touch to any space in your home. It can be completed in just a couple of hours and is the perfect beginner project to practice the basic Tunisian simple stitch!
- This pattern uses a few Tunisian crochet techniques. Use the following video tutorials as needed:
- Pattern rows are Forward pass instructions.
- The following instructions are implied:
- The loop already on the hook at the beginning of the row counts as the first st.
- Always Tunisian simple stitch in the last st of the row, being sure to work under both loops of the st.
- Return Pass: Follow the foundation row and each row with the Return Pass in the same color unless a color change is needed.
Return Pass Instructions: Ch 1, *yarn over, pull through two loops; repeat from * until 1 loop remains on the hook.

Pattern Instructions:
Ch 43
Row 1 (Foundation Row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain. Complete normal RetP. (43 sts)
Row 2: Tss across. Complete normal RetP (43 sts)
Rep Row 2 until the piece measures 30 inches from the foundation row. Leaving a 6 in. tail, cut yarn. Bind off and weave in all loose ends.
