TUNISIAN CROCHET BLANKET PATTERN INSPIRATION:

The sky and clouds theme is a common one we see in nursery room decor and in the past I have designed using this surface bobble stitch technique and it turned out very cute so I thought I would attempt it with this beautiful and super soft Bernat Forever Fleece. What makes this an even more special design is that my little guy actually helped me pick these colors out at a recent trip to JoAnns!

This blanket pattern is also part of the Giftstravaganza Blog Hop hosted by Marie of Underground Crafter. This blog hop featured a new FREE design each day this month featuring handmade holiday gift ideas! My feature date is November 18th and you will be able to grab the PDF for FREE for 24 hours starting on Nov. 18th!

Modified color chart for bobble placement on Lovey:

Refer to the following video tutorial for how to complete the surface bobble stitch clouds:
https://youtu.be/WWV3VvgLGvk

Make bobbles horizontally. Count four rows up from the foundation row and count 10 stitches to the left, starting here, make Sbo into the tenth st from the left. Skip next st, turn the blanket sideways to make it easier to work the bobbles. Make Sbo and continue making Sbo in this pattern for two more Sbo. You should have a total of 4 Sbo in this row.

Now count one stitch up and one stitch to the right, make Sbo, continue the pattern as above until you have a total of 3 Sbo in this row. The 3 Sbo in this row should offset the Sbo in the row below to form the cloud shape. Leave a 6 in. tail and cut yarn.

Continue this pattern according to the placement of the Sbo in the color chart.

My Tunisian crochet square pattern is for a cookie because that’s what comes to mind when I think of the holidays. I don’t celebrate any of the major holidays around this time of year but I do love two things that are a major part of this season: baking and enjoying everyone’s decorations. I love baking yummy treats, who doesn’t? I initially started off with a sugar cookie with icing as the idea but it evolved into this chocolate cookie and I am so happy with the way it turned out and my hubby found the perfect Pepperidge Farms Peppermint Thins to go with the square! If you were looking for the perfect crochet cookie squares, you’ve found them. I think the Tunisian Cookie Squares would look so cute even as a banner as part of your holiday decor.

Finishing Touches:

Bind off, leaving a 6 in. tail for all colors, cut yarn and weave in all ends. With the right side of the square facing you, join Chocolate yarn and dc evenly along one long edge. Repeat on the opposite long edge. Weave in all loose ends. Optional: Steam block for a smoother finish. You can find a full steam blocking tutorial here.
