About the Pattern:
Skill Level: Beginner
Yarn:
Lion Brand Yarn Respun Thick and Quick in Squash, 223 yards for adult size and approximately 170 yards for child size (Size 6 super bulky weight; 12 oz./ 340 g, 223 yd/204 m; 100% recycled polyester)
Hook:
- Size 15 10.0 mm Tunisian crochet hook 12 in. long or with an 8 in. cord, I used my Furls Kingsnake Tunisian hook. Here is one of my favorite sets which includes larger size Tunisian crochet hooks. Check out the Denise Interchangeable hook set here.
Notions:
Gauge:
- Gauge is 12 sts over 8 rows in Tunisian simple stitch for a 4 x 4 in. square with Lion Brand Respun Thick and Quick yarn using a 10.0 mm hook.
Finished Size:
- The adult size is 44 in. long by 8 in. wide
- The child size is 43 in. long by 4 in. wide
Abbreviations:
Ch: Chain
Tss: Tunisian simple stitch
Sk: Skip stitch
RetP: Return Pass -Explained below
Pattern Notes:
This pattern is for a textured beginner-friendly Tunisian crochet infinity scarf in child and adult sizes. It’s the perfect scarf for this Fall! You can wear it long or double it to wear it as a cowl. The best part is you can make a matching one for your little one as well. Each scarf can be completed with a single skein of yarn so it’s the perfect one-skein project!
This pattern uses a few Tunisian crochet techniques. Use the following video tutorials as needed:
- Pattern rows are Forward pass instructions.
- The following instructions are implied:
- The loop already on the hook at the beginning of the row counts as the first st.
- Always Tunisian simple stitch in the last st of the row, being sure to work under both loops of the st.
- Return Pass: Follow the foundation row and each row with the Return Pass.
Return Pass Instructions: Ch 1, *yarn over, pull through two loops; repeat from * until 1 loop remains on the hook.
Child Pattern Instructions:
Ch 12
Row 1 (Foundation Row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain. Complete normal RetP. (12 sts)
Row 2: *Sk st, tss, work tss into sk st* Rep * to last st, work last st as normal. Complete normal RetP (12 sts)
Repeat row 2 for 43 inches (or longer to customize according to child neck circumference)
Turn the wrong side out and whip stitch edges together. Weave in all loose ends.

Adult Pattern Instructions:
Ch 24
Row 1 (Foundation Row): Pick up a loop in the back bump of each chain. Complete normal RetP. (24 sts)
Row 2: *Sk st, tss, work tss into sk st* Rep * to last st, work last st as normal. Complete normal RetP (24 sts)
Repeat row 2 for 44 inches for a snug fit. If you would like a looser fit when the scarf is doubled, continue for 4 more rows.
Bind off. Turn the wrong side out and whip stitch the edges together. Weave in all loose ends.
