Crochet Bow Pattern – Free Tunisian Crochet Bow-Tie

Free crochet bow pattern - make this cute crochet bow-tie in Tunisian crochet or in normal crochet - both patterns are available here!

I came up with this super easy free crochet bow pattern recently as I was thinking of ways to use up my scrap yarn. It can be intimidating to try a new craft so I want to make it easy for you. I would like you to try this super simple pattern to get used to and fall in love with Tunisian crochet! Similarly, I have a normal crochet version of the bow below if you prefer the simple crochet stitches! This bow can be attached to anything. For example, you can attach it to a hair-tie, headband, or a bow-tie. I decided to turn it into an adjustable bow-tie for Bubs! The double crochet belt makes it easy to adjust to any size!

This post may contain affiliate links for which I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

This adjustable bow-tie pattern is a great beginner project and can easily be made with a straight 4 mm crochet hook. Make it in a solid color or as a striped version! I’ve decided to include this pattern as a Free PDF just for 24 hours as part of the Easy Tunisian Crochet Blog Hop. Featured for my Tunisian Crochet Patterns by Bluprint Blog

My Tunisian crochet patterns have recently recieved some recognition!

When I got an email a few weeks ago from the Bluprint (formerly Craftsy) blog author, I couldn’t believe that they wanted to feature me. Although I responded and agreed, it was all very surreal to me!

The publishing date for the article had not been released so I just kept checking back! I finally saw the post today and can’t begin to describe how grateful I am. My blog has been highlighted for my Tunisian crochet patterns and POC and Mama Maker Series. I have been selected and placed among some other amazing bloggers including Stephanie of All About Ami, Toni of TLYarncrafts, Amber of Divine Debris, Jess of Make and Do Crew, Rohn of Rohn Strong, and Tamara of Moogly.

It’s moments like these where I really feel like I’m on the right track. I believe I can really achieve anything if I set my mind to it. I appreciate each and every one of you for your ongoing support, whether you are following me on Instagram and engaging with my content or just giving me words of encouragement and advice!

Knitting and Crochet Pattern Designing as POC and Moms

I think my biggest struggle as a POC knitting and crochet pattern designer and mom is the level of effort I have to put in for my work to be seen. So I'm planning an Instagram Live series where us POCs and moms can talk about real-life making! Fill out the form if you're interested! I can't wait to hear from you!
Here I am sporting the Tunisian Knit Cardi designed by Kelsey of @Happily.Yarn.After over an awesome graphic tee designed by Saiqa of @SewChickhybySai

Happy Valentines Day to all my fellow knitting and crochet pattern designers!

This Valentines Day I want to share what’s been in my heart and mind for the past few weeks. I know there is a discussion happening around racism within our maker community. I feel for fellow POC knitting and crochet pattern designers who directly and indirectly had to deal with injustice. My heart goes out to you. That being said, I’ve been very fortunate and have been treated very nicely by fellow makers regardless of race. Ever since I started this journey on Instagram, I’ve felt such a strong sense of community. Everyone has always been kind and helpful. However, I experience issues daily because I am a POC and mom in this community of knitting and crochet designers.

Knitting and Crochet Pattern Designing as a POC

As a POC knitting and crochet pattern designer, I have to show up more on social media to be seen. I have to work twice as hard to be noticed by large companies. My own voice has to be louder because many bloggers in this community do not look or sound like me.

Knitting and Crochet Pattern Designing as a Mom

As a mom, I also struggle to keep up with pattern designing. It’s hard to find a balance since real-life duties take priority. Adulting usually involves cooking, laundry, cleaning, and dealing with my temperamental toddler and all his growing needs. Often my crochet and knitting designs take an entire month or two to become a reality. Yes, even the simple accessories. I know I’m not alone in feeling this way!

Here’s my solution for helping all of us gain more visibility and have a powerful voice in the maker community. I want to have a Sip’N’Stitch type Instagram Live every week with a fellow POC knitting or crochet designer. Knitting moms and crochet moms (regardless of background) are also invited for these Live series. We can discuss all things knitting and crochet pattern designing as moms and/or POC.

Benefits of doing this Live series

  • More eyes on our content: My followers will get to know you and see your content and your followers will get to know me and see my content.
  • Increase our chance of collaboration while fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
  • Make more friends in the maker community – this is one of my main inspirations for starting this series, it gets lonely especially as a mom!
  • A chance for us to share knowledge, resources, and our experiences so we can grow our businesses/brands.

My intention is to be inclusive and inspire fellow POC and mom knitting and crochet designers. One way to do this is by having real-time conversations about real-life making.

If you’re interested you can fill out the form below so I can get a better idea of who you are and what your brand is all about! I can’t wait to hear from you!

If you're looking for the perfect maker gifts. Come take a look at these valuable complete Denise Interchangeable Hooks and Needles Sets.

I recently invested in two very valuable toolsets. I bought the Denise Interchangeable Crochet Hooks set and the Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles set. Although bamboo hooks and needles are my absolute favorite, this is a nice alternative set. Once I started designing I knew I needed a complete set. These sets were the most affordable, practical, and durable! I purchased each set for around $50.00 which means that I got 2 sets for around $100.00. Considering that bamboo equivalents are a $100.00+ per set, these Denise sets offer great value for the price!

Maker Gifts – The Ultimate Gift for Crocheters

The crochet hook set includes:

  • 12 pastel hooks, one each in sizes f5/3.75mm to 19/15mm
  • 7 pink cords: 2 each 3 and 5″ (8 and 13cm) 1 each 9″, 12″ and 16″ (23, 30, 41 cm)
  • Four end buttons to turn any cord into a Tunisian/Afghan hook or stitch holder
  • Two extenders for cord-to-cord connections
  • Hard-shelled 8-1/4x7x1 inch case that holds everything perfectly in place
If you're looking for the perfect maker gifts. Come take a look at these valuable complete Denise Interchangeable Hooks and Needles Sets.

Maker Gifts – The Ultimate Gift for Knitters

The knitting needle set includes:

  • Ten knitting needle sizes, US5/3.75mm to 15/10mm
  • Six cords: 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19 in. (13, 23, 30, 36, 41 and 48 cm)
  • Four end buttons to turn any cord into a stitch holder or to use as an end cap for a straight, flexible needle.
  • Two extenders for cord-to-cord connections
  • Hard-shelled case that holds everything perfectly in place
  • Case dimensions (closed): 7 x 8 ½ x 1 (18 x 21 x 2.5cm)
  • Needles are 4(10cm) long for US5-10 ½ and 4.5(11cm) for US11-15
If you're looking for the perfect maker gifts. Come take a look at these valuable complete Denise Interchangeable Hooks and Needles Sets.

Why These Sets Offer Great Value for the Price

What I like most about these sets are the organized and neat snap-in-place cases that the pieces come in. There is no chance of losing any of the pieces. Also, the cords don’t get bent out of shape over time because they are made with a thick and durable material. Whether you are working with the hooks or the needles, they are very smooth and do not snag on any type of yarn!

The crochet hooks can be used for regular crochet by adding the shortest cord and a stopper to mimic a normal crochet hook. They can also be used as Afghan or Tunisian crochet hooks by joining more cords for length. The knitting needles can be used as straight needles in the same way by adding shorter cords with stoppers or by connecting a pair of needles to both ends of a cord for knitting in the round.

There are lots of options for cord lengths. Also, the cords, extenders, and caps/stoppers in both sets are interchangeable. There are also multiple color options available. Also, the case is the size of a book and can easily fit in your wip bag.

The best part is the locking system!

The best part is the twist-and-lock system! You just align the hole at the end of the hook or needle with the hole at the end of the cord by twisting. Voila, that’s it!

I have proof that this is a great locking system. The cords never came undone when I was knitting my first holiday knit sweater (designed by Ashleigh Kiser of Sewrella). This sweater was made with the new Color Made Easy yarn by Lion Brand which is a size 5 bulky weight yarn! Once I attached the body and sleeves, I was afraid the cords would come undone because it was such a heavy sweater! I was relieved when I was completing the yoke and nothing happened!
