Easy Tunisian Crochet Scarf Pattern Inspiration Behind the Design

To be honest, I don’t think this design was inspired by anything, it literally just flew off my hook and before I knew it, I had a super long super chunky bold statement Tunisian crochet scarf and I couldn’t be happier with it! There is just something about the bamboo stitch that gives me that same sense of calm that knitting gives me. The bamboo stitch is originally a knit stitch and I randomly happened across a Tunisian crochet version of it and instantly tried it out. I love that Tunisian crochet can mimic knitting so well! I’ve been on a kick to try out knit repeat stitch patterns in Tunisian crochet to get that crochet like knit result. I’ve loved the results so far! Just this week I released a modified moss stitch tutorial which is similar to the knit moss stitch, check out the full tutorial here.

Anyways, I digress. I LOVE the Bamboo stitch, just look at that gorgeous texture. And can we just have a moment for this yummy Lion Brand x Two of Wands Hue & Me Yarn in Juniper, this color is everything. Anyways keep reading for details about the pattern, cozy up, and get started on making your own Juniper Steps Scarf! The result is a super long bold textured Tunisian crochet statement scarf. If you don’t know how to knit and you want that chunky knit hygge feel, this is the pattern for you!!

CROCHET LIKE KNIT EAR WARMER INSPIRATION

This pattern is for an easy reversible Tunisian crochet knit like crochet ear warmer made with wool! This is a cozy and elegant ear warmer that will be the perfect accessory this Fall and Winter. It’s the perfect project to make if you want a knit-like ear warmer but don’t know how to knit!

I have been experimenting a lot with the Tunisian knit stitch and I decided to figure out some knit like crochet stitches. I especially love the look of knit cables so I wanted to give it a try in Tunisian crochet. The left twist knit stitch creates a beautiful cabled texture which also looks like the front post crochet stitch. They also remind me of the beautiful woods hence the name Winding Woods Ear Warmer! I received this gorgeous Audine Wools Mellow yarn in High and Dry in my September Knitcrate Box and I couldn’t get over the color and I instantly thought of an ear warmer and hopefully a set of fingerless mitts that I hope to work up soon!

You can read more about Audine Wools Mellow Yarn HERE.

It’s also the season for quick crochet projects as you all are probably working on gifts or preparing inventory for your craft fairs and how cute would the Winding Woods Ear warmer look in the mix! I realized after I finished it that it was equally beautiful on the wrong side as it was on the right side and the seam just gets blended in as long as you weave in your ends well. SO that makes this pattern a REVERSIBLE crochet ear warmer!

An easy crochet ear warmer pattern free for a knit like crochet ear warmer made with wool! A Quick chunky crochet ear warmer pattern.

Repeat row 2 for the length needed to match your head circumference) For reference, my head circumference is 21.5 inches and I continued the pattern for 19.5 inches. Make sure you keep checking if it will fit by wrapping around your head as you’re completing it. Once you reach the desired length, leaving a long tail, cut yarn (approximately 8 to 10 inches). This tail will be used later for seaming up the ear warmer.

*Note: the ear warmer will stretch over time so you could make it on the tighter side.

Use this formula to calculate approximately how long the ear warmer should be if you’re using a wool-blend/yarn that has stretch to it:

Head circumference – 3 in. = Length of ear warmer in inches

Use this formula to calculate approximately how long the ear warmer should be if you’re using a yarn that doesn’t have stretch to it:

Head circumference – 2 in. = Length of ear warmer in inches

But still be sure to try it out as you go to make sure it fits correctly.

Fold the ear warmer over with the wrong side facing, join the ends of the ear warmer together with whip st or using your preferred method of seaming using the tail left at the beginning or a long piece of yarn. Weave in any loose ends. Leave it or turn it right side out depending on which side you like better and enjoy your finished make!

A huge thanks to DMC Crafts for generously providing yarn support for this design! I absolutely loved working with the DMC Nova Vita yarn. It definitely was an arm workout but well worth it! If you prefer an easier yarn, you could go with the Bernat Maker Big yarn although the texture and feel may vary as the fiber contents are different.

Inspiration for the design

I can’t believe it has been a whole YEAR since my hubby and I became home owners, it feels like just yesterday when we were researching all the things and getting ready to go from apartment living to our own house! I am so grateful we are at a stage where we were able to do that and we landed up in a great place with amazing neighbors and I love our house. One of the first yarn packages I received at our new house was from DMC Crafts to give their Nova Vita yarn a try. They sent me 2 skeins of their neutral color and I loved it so much. I made the Simple Seed Coasters with it, you can find the free pattern here. Then I asked for some more yarn in colors that would go with my home decor theme for the living room.

From the moment we got our couches, I knew I wanted to dress them up with my own specially designed modern crochet pillows and here we are a few months later! I am SO excited to finally release this pattern out into the world and I hope you LOVE making it as much as I did!

This pattern is for a beginner-friendly reversible Tunisian crochet pillow pattern. The wrong side and right side will be showcased to reveal the beautiful texture. It is made with the Tunisian simple stitch with some basic colorwork and the project can be completed in a few hours to elevate the chic and cozy factor to any living space!
